I have just re-installed my clients and made sure not to set a password at installation. I definitely have no password set on my tutor. I still cannot connect.

For security reasons, if you re-install the clients and do not set a connection password at the point of installation, the installation program will detect the last password used unless you specifically deleted it during the de-install process.  This 'old' connection password will again be set by default. 

If you need to change the client password by re-installing the software, then you will need to set a new connection password at installation, thus forcing the installation program to overwrite any that were set before - unless you have specifically deleted all settings during de-install.
