I've just installed version 4.5 on the computers in the ICT rooms, but whenever anyone logs on it prompts to install a display driver (mirror driver?). I'm guessing this is a new version of the driver in 4.5, so this will need looking at.
In the mean time we are having to roll back to the 4.4 client |

Hi Richie
Please have a look in Tools, Settings, View/Show and check if there is a tick in the "Use Video Driver (Win 2000/XP)" box.
Cheers

The setting was enabled - tried it also disabled with same result.
Have tried uninstalling 4.5 and installing 4.4 via Group Policy, but 4.5 won't remove (still reports 4.5 on control pc).
Looks like we are going to have to re-image all the affected machines and install 4.4 |

| Actually, having just re-installed some machines it seems the problem started with 4.4... we had 4.3 on the machines previously with no problems, so we're going to have to revert to 4.3 |

Hello
The problem with the Driver prompting for confirmation is something we are trying to resolve by getting it 'Windows Logo' approved. This process takes quite a long time!
With version 4.4 you can set a variable in the MST file called INSTALL_MIRROR_DRIVER to 0 and it will not install this driver. The mirror driver is used to speed up screen refresh rates and improve performance, but it is not an essential component.
It can also be installed/de-installed on each remote machine by simply running the program 'INSTDRV.EXE' located in the ABControl folder.
You can try to remotely uninstalling the driver by using the Tutor Control program to run the INSTDRV.EXE with the command line parameter '-u'
Connect to the remote machines and execute the ?Launch? command:
c:\program files\abcontrol\instdrv.exe -u
For future installations via Group Policies, I suggest you create a Transform file from the 4.5 MSI file and disable the installation of the mirror driver.
(set INSTALL_MIRROR_DRIVER=0)
I hope this helps
Andy

Running the instdrv.exe -u works and I've modified the Install Mirror Driver setting in the MSI for new builds - I'm currently testing this now.
So how long before the Mirror Driver gets approved? |
