| My school provides technical support to a number of local primary schools. The schools are on the same MAN/WAN as us, so provided I was able to get the appropriate ports opened, could I use ABTC as a remote support tool for other sites? |

If you are able 'Scan' across subnets to find remote machines, then yes. If not, then you will need to connect via static IP address. For schools, this is not normally how they are setup.
One suggestion would be to assign a static IP address to one 'main' machine and allow connection to it over port 5151. On this remote machine you install a copy of AB Tutor Control. That copy can then be remotely launched and connect to the machines within that school.
We have on our development plans a relay server extension. This is a server side system will allow any machine (tutor and clients) to connect to each other in an outward direction. We hope to have this working sometime next year.
Hope this helps.

Hi,
I think the direct IP should be ok as all schools are on the same range, just different subnets. Provided that the ISP agreed to open the 5151 ports, I guess it could work technically.
How are we for licensing? Am I ok to do this (ie install the client at other schools)? |

You can install the AB Client program anywhere you like but you will need licenses for each AB Tutor Control program installed at each school.

| So, if I'm only rolling out the clients at the other schools, and will just use my current Tutor (at my school), that will be ok. |

Try ChrisControl. We've been using it in our district for a little over a year now and had great success with it. It is free and works very well for remote assistance. It isn't a viable alternative to AB Tutor in the classroom, but for remote assistance it is much better suited than AB Tutor.
