I am about to roll out AB Tutor Control Client and would like to disable the Client service (ABClient.exe) when ever a staff memeber logs in. It's easy for our school because we have two domains: admin and curriculum so they run different scripts. I am using VB script with WMI.
The problem is staff and teachers do not have access to stop and start services. Running as the administrator works fine.
Has anyone done something simular?
I was thinking I may need to write a program on the server to disable the client remotely.
There's probably a neater way of doing it, but to address the problem of users not being able to control the service, you could grant your staff access to control the service using group policy thereby allowing your script to stop/start the abclient service at logon/logoff.
I didn't reliease Group Policies could specify which services could be accessed. That sounds like the answer. I just hope that I can get head office to make the change as I don't have access to change GPOs.
Thanks
