| Yes this also happens to me occasionally, when using the remote logon command some machines appear to shut down or go into standby mode. |

Ok, depending on your network, i found that this problem occured for me too. We have windows domain and the control alt delete option for logging in required. I found that if the domain name is hidden and you try and logon with ab tutor it will cause the machine to shutdown/restart/suspend (what ever is the default option or last used)
I have found a work around.
you can make it so your domain is always shown, you will need to make a .reg file contents of:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
"ShowLogonOptions"=dword:00000001
You then need to execute this at start up of your computer. You can do this by adding it to a group policy start up script.
Open group policy that relates to your machines and browse to: Computer Configuration -> Windows Settings -> Scripts (Startup/Shutdown) -> Startup double click startup and you should see a window click the show files button. You will see a window appear and you can then copy the .reg file into here, I also copied the regedit.exe which you will need to add the .reg file to the computers registry. regedit.exe can be found in c:\windows directory.
Back in the start up config window. click on the add and a new window will appear, in the first text box add "regedit.exe" without the quotes. In the second window add "/s yourregfile.reg" without the quotes click on ok and close the group policy windows.
Reboot your machines so they pick up the new policy.
This is for system admins so ask your system admin it may be against your network policy to do this too.
also please take care testing firstly with one machine.
This worked fine for me but i cant garentee it will work for everyone as every network is different. If i have done it the hard way please let me know if there is an easier way to do it!!!!! |
