Hi,

I have installed and have been testing ABTutor on Windows 7 for some of our teaching staff to use next year.

The product overall, works very well, however, I have come up against a couple of issues that seem to me at least, to be Windows 7 specific.

I note from some disscussion I have had with AB Consulting staff that they were not aware of any issues with Windows 7.

"Hi,

As far as we know there are no known compatibility issues with Ab tutor version 6 and windows 7.

Kind Regards,

AB Consulting "

So here are the issues I have found. I should add I am running Windows 7 64 bit.

1. If running the software as it has installed, when selecting Computers -> Screen Capture, the software crashes.

2. When selecting Tools -> Settings, and then leaving the screen for a couple of minutes, without touching it, the software crashes.

3. To overcome these problems I ran it in compatibility mode (XP SP3). When running in compatibility mode I noted that my saved passwords, and settings seemed to be lost. At first I thought It must have been a bug, and ignored it. I then switched out of XPSP3 mode and ran it again as per normal, and my origianl settings came back!

I have since discovered if running the software normally it uses C:\ProgramData\ABConsulting\AB Tutor Control\ to store the ABControl.xml file.

However, if you run it in Windows XP compatibility mode it uses C:\Program Files (x86)\ABControl\ to store the ABControl.xml file.

This difference causes issues for the user if they should change modes due to compatibility issues.

Hope this helps the programmers!!

You are correct. It also says:

" We will of course check and respond to posts in this forum. "

One would think that a one month period should be enough time for them to post a reply?

Hi, you are right in that we do keep an eye on the forum, but you will also get a faster response if you contact us directly.

Ok, we've investigated your reported problems when running AB tutor Control on Windows 7 and we are not able to reproduce these issues.

It would be useful to find out if anyone else is having the same problems. It would also be useful if you can contact us directly so we can find out more about your setup (e.g. The exact Windows 7 OS details, which version of AB Tutor Control program has been installed and how etc.)

Many thanks.

Andy
